Littlefields Photography Magazine #1: "Oregon" by Jim Clinefelter
Our first issue was originally published in 2009, and over the last several years, it has been improved and added to. This first issue explores what we found simply by looking around Portland, after observing what people usually pass by here. Unlike many other publishers, nearly everything I've printed in the last 33 years is available. On-demand DIY publishing is the best model for us. I am fortunate to have a day job at a camera store that has a terrific photo lab staffed by people who really know how to print. When I take copies of Littlefields to Tokyo, one of the first comments is, "um...who does your printing?? we can't get prints this good here!" Of all the titles I've published, Littlefields is the most fun to do. Every copy of each issue is a bit different in some way, either in the group of prints or the sleeve art (or both). Our publishing models come from Alfred Stieglitz, d.a. levy, Judson Crews, Lisa Baumgardner, John M. Bennett, various assembling magazines, and my dad's collection of French Revolution almanacs (bound in various kinds of wallpaper!). The name of the magazine is my German surname in English.
